Underused as an urban tree. Will tolerate almost any site and roots do not heave pavement. Young trees are pyramidal; mature trees often have open, gnarled crown. Good wildlife tree. Only drawbacks are that limbs will snap in high winds and will create visibility problems (as tree holds low limbs).

Streets, shade, parking lots, reforestation, wildlife and screens
